Rebecca Cherry has been featured internationally as a soloist, performer and composer.  Her work as a violinist and composer has won critical acclaim, also winning her a Clio Award for her groundbreaking performances and writing in TV and film. Rebecca was born in Vancouver, Canada to classical musician parents. They began her on violin at age three, and started singing shortly thereafter.  She took Master Classes and studied with Acclaimed teachers, Gwen Thompson, Herbert Greenberg - Peabody Conservatory (Bachelors of Music & Graduate Performance Diploma), Pinkas Zuckerman, Joseph Silverstein, David Zinman, Gustaf Mier, Harvey Shapiro, Jascha Brosdsky, Stephen Gerber, John Mack, Kurt Loebel,  David Cerone, Victor Danchenko, Leon Fleisher,   Stephen Geber, Andres Cardenez, Robert Lipsett, Bernhart Goldschmidt, Bruce Uchimura, Marian Hahn, William Preucil, Anthony Elliott, Philip Setzer, Martin Chalifour, Richard Weiss, The Miami String Quartet. Rebecca’s interest in world music and improvising began at a young age learning Klezmer music and improvising with Jazz musicians in her home city of Vancouver.

Rebecca has performed throughout North America as a Soloist and Chamber Musician with awards including the prestigious Joseph Gingold Award, a two time winner in the Canadian National Chamber Music Competition and winner of the CIBC Canadian National Music Festival.

Her work on both Violin and Electric Violin, as a Classical and multi-genre Artist has brought her to perform with acclaimed, popular music artists including, Adele, Florence and the Machine, Arlo Guthrie, Jay Z, Kanye West, The Roots, Chris Martin, Cindi Lauper, Common, Lambchop, Michael Bublé, Arlo Guthrie, Achinoam Nini, The Jonas Brothers, Enya, Beyonce, and Thalia.  Including: SNL, David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, The Grammys, BET Awards, MTV, MTV Unplugged, BET Specials, Live World, Jimmy Fallon and Telemundo. Rebecca made her Carnegie Hall Chamber Music debut in 2018 and has performed with symphony orchestras in North America and Europe including, The London Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic, Oslo Chamber Orchestra, New York Chamber Orchestra, New York Pops, Vancouver Symphony, acting concert master of the Waterloo Cedar Falls Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony.

Rebecca has been arranging music for her innovative concert programs, pulling from her on Jewish culture and Religion, history and musical genres to tell stories and connect people through music. Her programs for Solo Violin, chamber ensembles, many times including narrative and storytelling have been performed throughout North America. Cherry was a member of the all-female group, Divahn, who’s music included lush melodies and sounds from Indian, Middle Eastern, Latin, Hebrew, Judeo-Spanish, Persian, Arabic, Aramaic cultures mixed with Classical, Jazz and modern beats. Rebecca has collaborated with DJ’s for live concerts with effects, pre-recorded loops and computer music. Her work with live loop pedal was most recently featured with Dance group Ariel Rivka as part of a collaborative composition “Rhapsody in K” with Composers David Homan and Stefania de Kenessey. Ms. Cherry has performed with groups including Newspeak Music, Achinoam Nini and the Yoed Nir String Quartet, The Spinozas, Stretto - Trio for Violin, Oboe and Guitar, Femme Fatales – Trio for Violin, Soprano and Piano, Concertmaster of the first National Lion King tour, Soloist on Fiddler on the Roof,  Una Voce Chamber Ensemble and her Violin and Piano Duo with Pianist Jerome Tan.

Rebecca produced and released her own self-titled EP “Rebecca Cherry” of original works for Violin and Vocals in 2014. The music is influenced by Classical, Popular Music, Jazz and EDM genres. She has worked on several collaborations that bend the world of Classical music with Jazz, Blues and world music, with renown Composer and Neuro Scientist, Dave Soldier. Their collaborations include Multi-Disciplinary work, The Lost Victrola Sessions, a work for Solo Violin, Piano, Film and a live staged performance (funded in part by a NYSCA grant), Chamber Music, (Top 10 Chamber Music album by the New York Times) The Eighth Hour of Amduat, Inspect for Damaged Gods - Soldier String Quartet.  Ms. Cherry’s recordings can be heard on Mulatta Records.  Rebecca was the recipient of a Harvest Works Artist in Residence, presenting her surround-sound multi-media installation "Unexpected Connection". Since 2021, Ms. Cherry is working on a compilation of popular music arranged for Solo Violin and developing new Solo and collaborative projects.

Known for her work as an Educator, Ms. Cherry founded Red Rabbit Music in 2012, to foster young creative minds through her Private teaching, Violin program and strings music programs for Elementary and Middle School. Rebecca developed  pilot program, “You R Me” designed to support pre-teen and teenage girls/ non binary and trans people in the creative arts through mentoring, performance and collaborative ensembles.
